CSOP Asset Management, a Hong Kong-based investment manager, launched its Metaverse Concept exchange-traded fund (ETF) on 21st February making it the first publicly traded fund to help investors pick winning metaverse-related stocks. Traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the ETF invests in US-listed stocks and ADRs in four categories: chip and telecoms network companies, engineering stocks, application developers and content providers. Its current portfolio comprises 46 US-listed technology stocks with US$5.2 trillion in capitalisation, including Apple, Facebook’s parent Meta, WeChat’s operator Tencent Holdings, the 3D graphics processor maker Nvidia and the online games platform Roblox. ETF is actively managed which is better suited to metaverse investment given the evolving nature of metaverse technologies.
